You don’t need to be an artist to make beautiful blue cyanotype prints ! In this introductory class you’ll learn all the basics of this popular alternative photographic technique.
Using light sensitive chemicals you’ll expose prints in the sun and process them in water. By the time you leave you’ll have 4 gorgeous 8 x 10 cyanotype prints and the know-how to create more at home.
Participants should bring an assortment of plant materials or interesting objects to print with. Pressed plants and flowers work quite well. Bring your favorites to make prints that are uniquely yours! The rest of the materials will be provided.
About the instructor: Linda Clark Johnson is a mixed media artist working in cyanotype, collage, and watercolor. Her artwork focuses on the natural world, landscape, and plant forms. Her work is cyanotype-based. Cyanotype is an alternative photographic process developed in 1842. Prints are characterized by a deep shade of Prussian blue. She prints with foraged natural plant materials outdoors in the sun in her Sacramento studio.
