Clay Labs are open to the public every Saturday morning from 10am-1pm, all ages and skills are welcomed but kids under the age of fourteen are required to be accompanied by an adult at all times.

During the clay lab you may use up to 8 lbs of clay, any clay tools, glazes, our slab roller and wheels, you may fire one item up to 12in in any direction per lab session. We provide brief demos for people who are new to clay but this time is not structured as a class and we will not be teaching how to make any particular item. Verge Center for the Arts does offer ceramic classes, please check or class schedule for more information.


Space will be limited due to new COVID-19 protocols. We ask that everyone wear a mask and respect new social distancing guidelines. According to new state mandates we will be hosting clay outside in our courtyard. We will provide the usual supplies, and pop-us for shade, but please remember to bring your own water.

Firing Schedule:

We fire at cone 04 bisque and our glazes are celadon mid-range cone 5 glazes. If you would like an item fired make sure you fill up the firing form through our education I-pad so we can notify you when it is ready to glaze or take home. We clear our clay storage every month and we only store items for 6 weeks maximum. We are not responsible for ceramics that are left for longer than 6 weeks.


Lab fees are non negotiable and are not dependent on project’s process.

For our safety and the safety of everyone’s projects, we do not fire items that are dangerous, extremely fragile, or thicker than 3/4in. We also do not fire ceramics that have not been created in our facilities.
