Learn how to turn a lump of clay into a dish you can use in this engaging introduction to the pottery wheel. Explore the fundamentals of shaping, trimming, surface decoration, and glazing with instructor demonstrations and hands-on learning.
Whether you’ve never touched clay in your life, you remember having fun in that high school course you took, or you know a little about the wheel but want to button down your basics, there is room in this course for you.
The class is three sessions on May 20th, May 27th, and June 3rd. Pottery wheels, clay, tools, and glazes will be provided. Bringing an apron or two small hand towels is recommended but not necessary.
About the teaching artist
Lindsey M. Dillon is an award-winning Sacramento-based ceramic artist who infuses her work with a love of texture, a passion for the imaginary, and an appreciation for the power of story. Everything she makes starts out as a lump of clay on the pottery wheel or work table, and each piece is made one-at-a-time, by hand. She has partnered with local businesses to make unique sets of serveware, created lines of geek and gamer-inspired mugs for her shows at anime and pop culture conventions, and displayed her figurative creature sculptures in local galleries.
