IMMERSIVE SPACE: INSTALLATION ART

Kids will learn about the history of installation art and look at contemporary immersive art spaces. They will work individually and in groups to pick a theme, design an installation, and build components for it. Students will work on a theme of their choosing that is important to them.

They will also dive into the cultural aspects of paper mache sculptures from Mexico called alebrijes (like the ones from Coco!). They will learn how to construct an armature, cover, and paint their sculpture. They will work on small maquettes and in a large scale puppet or alebrije either collaboratively or individually. They will organize and host an exhibition with their work at the end of camp.
